Refreshed.
This word describes how it felt to officially join the Calvary Christian Academy family as a staff member on August 5, 2019.
From day one, I was welcomed with open arms and sensed there was something divinely distinct about the workplace I would now call home. This spoke volumes to me because I had struggled to fully fit in as a believer in previous workplaces.
The Lord’s joy and kindness was almost palpable at the first all-staff meeting I attended, which kicked off with a time of corporate worship. As I grew into my role on the school’s communications team, my appreciation for the organization’s diversity, authentic culture, and Spirit-led synergy grew as well.
Every position is an integral part of CCA’s mission to make disciples and is considered a teacher-minister role.
Chaperoning the 11th grade retreat,
blending in with the students.
While each of us on staff has been blessed with different gifts by our Creator, we are ultimately one
body committed to accomplishing the same Kingdom-advancing goal — to co-labor with parents as they raise their child(ren) to glorify God spiritually, academically, and socially with excellence. Every position is an integral part of CCA’s mission to make disciples and is considered a teacher-minister role. Even as an administrative staff member, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a small group leader for 11th grade girls and as a table leader for the 10th grade retreat centered on the theme of honor.
Being able to work in an environment where you can talk freely about your faith, pray for one another, and be continually encouraged to grow in your walk with the Lord is invaluable and something I’m still in awe of as I embark on my third year of employment here.
Values-Driven Workplace
CCA’s leadership team is intentional about cultivating a healthy, edifying environment centered around the following foundational core values that Christ ultimately modeled for us:
- Humility
- Soul-Keeping
- Collaboration
- Pursuing Excellence
- Empowering Leaders
- Celebration
- Authentic Love
You'll be well acquainted with
Chick-fil-A if you work at CCA.
As a faculty/staff member at CCA, you’ll be encouraged and challenged to live out these values not just at work, but in your personal life as well. Annual reviews, professional development opportunities, and staff meetings give us the opportunity to reflect upon these values and learn how they are being displayed across the organization.
School Schedule Benefits
One great thing about working at a school is the calendar. Working around a school year schedule that involves a beginning and an end is mentally refreshing and prevents burnout.
CCA is especially generous when it comes to observing holidays, giving families time to recharge their batteries and spend quality time with loved ones. The school closes for Thanksgiving Week, Christmas Break (two weeks), Spring Break (one week), Easter Break (two days), and for other federal holidays. Most employees will get this time off (depending on the department they work in), which is especially cherished by parents whose children also get these days off.
Additionally, CCA faculty and staff receive an ample amount of PTO and Sick Time to promote a work-life balance and to make space for soul-keeping.
Discounts for Staff Children
Children of CCA employees are eligible for a significant tuition discount if they meet admission requirements and are accepted into the school. This financial support has been a blessing for so many faculty and staff members over the years. There is a peace of mind knowing that your child is just steps away during the school day.God used that private education to impact the trajectory of my life and ground me in my faith.
My mother worked at the Christian school I attended from 2nd-12th grade so I could have the opportunity to receive a quality Christian education, and I am forever grateful that she did. God used that private education to impact the trajectory of my life and ground me in my faith.
Children of CCA faculty/staff members also receive a discount for Summer Camp programs.
Dining/Shopping Perks
Employees on our Fort Lauderdale campus receive a 25% lunch discount off food items from our on-campus restaurant The Grill. They serve up delicious dishes daily; some of my go-tos are the Coconut Curry Chicken Soup, Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl, Buffalo Cauliflower, and Southwest Chicken Salad. (Hungry yet?)
All CCA employees receive a 30% discount for The Generous Cafe and Bookstore located on the Fort Lauderdale campus, which also serves as a staff lounge during the school day. This is the perfect spot to score a new Bible, purchase a gift or card for loved ones, and even find faith-based home decor that would make Joanna Gaines proud. Did I mention this beautiful space also has a Coca-Cola freestyle dispenser machine that CCA staff can use whenever they desire? You can find me there often filling my tumbler with Dasani sparkling water.
Higher Ed Partnerships
Are you praying about possibly going back to school to earn your bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree? Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale recently partnered with Southeastern University and Oceans Edge University to offer church and school staff the opportunity to receive a Christ-centered, post-secondary education at a reduced tuition rate.
These accredited universities offer programs in areas such as educational leadership, pastoral care and counseling, organizational leadership, and theological studies. Click here to read more about this collaborative effort designed to cultivate a love for life-long learning.
At the end of the day, working at CCA is more than a job — it’s a calling. As an employee in this ministry, the work you do is purposeful, fulfilling, and ultimately has an eternal impact. Being employed at an organization where I have not only been able to grow in my gifts, but also do so for God’s glory in an educational setting has been an answer to prayer, and quite honestly, a dream come true.
As an employee in this ministry, the work you do is purposeful, fulfilling, and ultimately has an eternal impact.
