Embracing Endings: A Look Back at CCA’s 2022–23 School Year

While beginnings often captivate our excitement, it is the endings that give us the opportunity to respond to the Lord’s goodness and work by reflecting, celebrating, and giving thanks. Join us as we journey back through the moments and milestones that unfolded at CCA Fort Lauderdale during the 2022-23 school year and anticipate the transformative experiences that lie ahead in 2023-24.

Ecclesiastes 7:8 states: “The end of a matter is better than its beginning.” Your initial reaction to that statement might be to disagree as you think of the excitement that comes with special moments like starting a new job, moving to a new house/city, welcoming a child into your family, and getting baptized.

While endings can be sad, and we’re often tired once we reach the finish line, an ending ultimately represents the journey you took to reach that end point. The perseverance and character development that’s involved in reaching an ending is worth celebrating, because it means you pressed on, even when faced with challenges and doubts.

Endings are also special because they place us in a position where we can look back on our individual and collective accomplishments and thank God for them. It’s been wonderful SEEKing Him in all things and in all seasons together as a school community during the 2022-23 school year at CCA Fort Lauderdale. Below are some milestones we invite you to celebrate with us!

  • Accreditation
    • CCA earned Exemplary Accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International, making it 1 of only 19 schools nationwide to have achieved this status with ACSI. This designation recognizes the school's commitment to Christian education and improvement across all its campuses.

  • Admissions
    • 98% of CCA families re-enrolled for the 2023-24 school year. (The average private school retention rate is 90%.)

  • Advancement
    • $1.6 million raised by generous supporters that will equip CCA to carry out its mission.
    • 8 critical areas enhanced by advancement funds: Academic Offerings, Innovation & Technology, Discipleship Initiatives, Faculty Development, Fine Arts & Athletics, Facility Upgrades, Capital Campaign for Fieldhouse & Scene Shop, Tuition Assistance.

  • Athletics
    • 26 varsity student-athletes qualified for the FHSAA state championships in cross country, swimming, tennis, and track & field.
    • 3 district titles were secured by the varsity boys football, baseball, and volleyball teams.
    • 100 opposing student-athletes and coaches were led to salvation by CCA student-athletes.
    • CCA alumnus Taylor Hendricks (Class of 2022) was selected 9th overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2023 NBA Draft.

  • Discipleship
    • 300+ eighth and eleventh graders served on international mission trips.
    • 297 Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes were prepared across all grade levels.
    • 120+ high schoolers served as mentors at local public/charter schools.
    • The high school Worship Team released “SEEK” – an original single – on major streaming platforms.

  • Early Childhood
    • An additional speech-language pathologist was hired to provide convenient, on-campus support to families. Visit CCAEagles.org/SLP to learn more!

  • Elementary
    • 90+ parents attended new Coffee & Conversations meetings on campus where they got to discuss digital discipleship and receive practical advice, tools, and resources.
    • 4 championships were won in the Schools United Athletic Conference (boys soccer, boys flag football, girls volleyball, and girls basketball).

  • Fine Arts
    • 30 Superior and 10 Excellent ratings were earned by Upper School students who competed in various band, choral, and theatre competitions.
    • 9 Cappie nominations and 3 Cappie wins were awarded for CCA’s high school production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.

  • High School
    • The Class of 2023 was accepted into 115 different colleges/universities and had 2 Miami Herald Silver Knight winners as well as 1 Honorable Mention winner.
    • Students represented CCA at the state and national level at HOSA, FBLA, and National History Day competitions.

  • International Student Program
    • 25 students from around the world were hosted and served – 12 of them being new to CCA.
    • 3 new countries were represented in the program this year: Italy, Peru, and Canada.

  • Middle School
    • Sixth graders completed a 10-week evidence-based program called “Too Good for Drugs”, and all middle school students participated in a bullying seminar.
    • 88 seventh graders were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
    • CCA’s Spanish Immersion program was introduced to Middle School (first sixth grade class).
    • The girls middle school volleyball team won their first-ever volleyball championship.

  • Parent-to-Parent Fellowship
    • 60+ parents attended a first-ever Youth Suicide Prevention Awareness event in partnership with CCA's Students Speak Up for Kids club and HCA Florida Woodmont Mental Health Center.

  • Property Enhancements
    • Construction for the Fine Arts Scene Shop was completed.
    • Significant progress was made on the new Calvary Fieldhouse.
    • 50+ NewLine Interactive Boards were installed in classrooms.

  • Safety & Security
    • SchoolPass was introduced on campus, streamlining visitor check-in, Lower School carline, and absence reporting, while improving security.
    • A new Director of Security was hired by Calvary Chapel who will oversee and elevate all security operations on property.
    • There were no major threats to report this school year, by the grace of God.

The Lord has been faithful, and we trust that He will continue to be. We are excited to see Him move in new ways when CCA’s two new campuses – CCA Boynton Beach and CCA North Miami – launch in August 2023. God has not only opened many doors for us to make disciples here in South Florida, but also globally as we help launch Christian schools in Central and South America in partnership with Calvary Chapel (visit CCAEagles.org/CCAGlobal to learn more!).
